When Will Pacquiao Retire From Boxing? If He Wins the Vice Presidency!

World boxing champion and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao may stopped using his powerful punches inside the ring, but not so soon.

Because he will wait for the year 2016 to win his Vice Presidential bid? Yes, Pacman will run for Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines, five years from now.

“Come 2016 I am going to run Vice President. No more boxing at that time,” Pacquiao’s quoted saying.

But the chairman of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Sixto Brillantes doubted Pacquiao’s aim of the second highest position in the land. He said, a candidate must at least 40 years old on election day before he/she can be qualified to run as Vice President.

“No person may be elected President unless he is a natural-born citizen of the Philippines, a registered voter, able to read and write, at least forty years of age on the day of the election, and a resident of the Philippines for at least ten years immediately preceding such election," section 2 of Article VII of the Constitution stated.

Pacquiao was born on December 17, 1978 or he will be 37 years old only during the 2016 national polls.

We don’t know who gave him an advice to make such pronouncement. But it is so ambitious!

I don’t want to judge Pacquiao on what he can do as a Vice President. He can pay numbers of personal advisers of different fields of expertise to help him run an office. But can he really be sincere to serve his countrymen?

Why don’t Pacquiao do what he promised to his mother first? Retire from boxing.

Focus on his constituents as a solon and help Congress become more productive in passing legislative measures that would augment the lives of poor Filipinos.
