The Do’s And Don’ts Of Writing A Resume

Resume can make or break your chances of achieving a great professional career. Of course, having an sterling profession could also mean good income and more opportunities.

Most employers confide on the information stated in a resume, other known as curriculum vitae or biographical data, and also with personal, over-the-phone or online interviews to decide whether to reject or approve your job application.

Do’s:

2. Make it brief and concise. Include a tab about “Summary of Qualifications” to give a more sharp focus about your skills.

3. Accomplishments are meaningful to employers, so stated them clearly. Avoid using phrases such as “Duties included," "Responsibilities included," or "Responsible for." They are said to be description language, not accomplishments-oriented resume language that sells.

4. Consider a bulleted style to make it reader-friendly.

5. Be clear on what position are you applying for. Do not generalized. Employers cannot make a guess on what you can do, or do not confuse them.

6. List your previous job information according to importance. An example is this format – Title/Position, Name of Employer, City/State of employer, Dates of Employment. Also, list it in reverse chronological order.

7. Proofread carefully before submitting it.

Don’ts:

1. Do not ever lie on your resume.

2. Do not overstuff your resume with unnecessary data such as your body statistics and hobbies. Try to make a maximum of two-pages resume.

3. Do not forget your contact details.

4. Refrain from using personal pronoun such as I, me, my to give your presentation looks more proficient.
