The Steel Corporation of the Philippines (SCP) seems to have given up hope of rising up again from the corporate woes it is facing after the court has decided to place it under liquidation proceedings. Batangas City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch-3 Judge Ruben Galvez issued a decision favouring the liquidation proceedings, which lead for the legal counsels of SCP to asked permission to leave the court room and staged a walk-out to protest something they believed as an unfair decision of what they described as a “kangaroo court.” The court immediately held an election to determine the members of the Board of Liquidation of the said company. SCP Employees to Judge Ruben Galvez: How Much?
Around 300 employees of Steel Corporation of the Philippines (SCP) are now in danger of losing their jobs after the Batangas Regional Trial Court Branch-3 issued an order for the company to undergo liquidation proceedings. The said court decision ignited the employees to protest what they see as a clear violation of the Labor Code of the Philippines. Aside from this, the employees of SCP stressed that the rehab court disregarded the earlier orders of the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court where there are still pending cases filed by the group in connection with the issue. Sereno: First Lady Chief Justice And The Second Longest In The Philippine History
The Philippines now have its first ever lady Chief Magistrate, Associate Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno. Today, President Ninoy Aquino administered the oath to Sereno. Sereno will have 18 years as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court before reaching the mandatory retirement age. She’ll be serving four Presidents: Aquino, the winners of presidential elections in 2016, 2022 and 2028. This would make her as the second justice with the longest years of appointment in the SC. Former Chief Justice Cayetano Arellano had 18 years and 9 months in the position.

Full Military Honors For The Late Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) rendered full military honors as the remains of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo arrived at the Villamor Airbase from Naga City today. Former President Returns To VMMC Due To Leg Pain
Two days after she was freed from detention, former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Arroyo returned to Veterans’ Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) today. But she was not in hospital arrest again, but to undergo physical therapy after experiencing leg pain.
