The Nation Is Mourning On A Tragedy But President Aquino Is Partying?

If you will believe what the actress-host Valerie Concepcion tweeted, you will somehow feel how insensitive the government is.

If you’re going to check again Valerie’s tweets, some are already deleted as of this posting:

“Done w/ work.. Tnx for having me.. 🙂 It was nice to see Pres. P-Noy laughing at my jokes & enjoying my performance..ü #Malacañang #PSGNight,”

Yes, it seems that President Noynoy Aquino had a Christmas party with Presidential Security Group (PSG) and families Sunday evening. So what? It’s Christmas season right?

Then again, Valerie explained…

The timing was wrong. Especially when the President and the whole world knew how devastated the families in Mindanao after typhoon Sendong hit the country. Almost 600 had died and there are 300 more missing. Most of the victims are children!

The nation is mourning. Hearts are breaking and tears flooded in the affected areas while the President exchanges laughter and jokes with actresses?

The tragedy was realized to be great on Saturday morning. And I doubt if the President wasn’t already informed about it.

If Mr. Aquino is truly concern with his people, he should have visited the victims immediately, the day after the tragedy. Not tomorrow or some other day. He has been always like that, NO SENSE OF URGENCY and I believe, was ill-advised.

People in Mindanao, especially in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City badly needs the government’s true assistance and not just lip service. They need to feel that they have a President in this time of crisis.

By the way, did the Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman bragged that they had already distributed goods to evacuees? Television reports showed that many evacuation centers in Cagayan de Oro are yet to receive any help from the government.

I just recently discovered this tweet from Mary Hope Salazar, a regular dancer for noontime show Happy Yipee Yehey of ABS-CBN 2.

And the spokesmen of the President had different versions on how long did the latter stayed in the party.

in my opinion, let us not judge the president hastily. we should also aware that, as much as we are concerned for our kababayans who’s lives were devastated, this wasn’t predicted when his secretary was doing his schedule. i am sure he would be glad to visit the people but the president is not functioning alone because he has advisers who would have told him otherwise. Pnoy is also a human being with a heart and i’m sure he also cares but under the circumstances he only has one body to function with. let us not be hasty.

I agree with you! People just don’t learn! They hate the President so much and they don’t appreciate what he’s doing right instead they are more focused on what he did wrong! Can you believe that? why do they care? they just elected him and expect too much from the President and sit there watching TV and not doing anything to contribute their help? Anong klaseng mamamayan ang tawag sa mga taong gnun? Hayz!

really ? a party with the President while the country is mourning, that is rediculous and so insensitive of him!

  3. December 19, 2011 at 9:30 am

Sana instead of partying, ginamit nalang nila yung perang ginastos sa party para idonate sa mga tao.. kaht sabihin mong na-plan na sya two-three weeks before the said date, dapat ni cancel nalang nila..maraming tao ang nakukunsensya bumili ng cellphone ngayon pasko kasi idodonate nalang daw nila yung ipambibili nila sa mga taong nasalanta. Sana po naisip dn nila yun.#justathought

I agree. There are scheduled Christmas party this week in some government offices and they cancelled it, instead they donated their budget to the victims.

I totally agree with you. VP Binay is already in CDO while Pnoy is partying. Just shows what kind of president we elected…

    1. if you were the president who invited celebrities, officials, and other important persons to celebrate christmas, with you, people who prepared for days or even weeks for this event would you not go to the party where YOU invited these people to come over? you’re the one who invited these people and this event will in your place, ikaw mismo ang di pupunta?

    2. i found out around 12AM what happened to our KABABAYAN in mindanao, but if i wasn’t online and went to the mall with my family, i would have find out about it around 8PM. was the president informed?

3.FLIGHTS has been cancelled, there are TONS of people got stock and can’t go back home or even to mindanao. are you going to fly to mindanao when there’s even a storm there? when civilians are not even allowed to fly, you’re going to feed the president to the storm? is that how much you want the president to die?

my answer to this, if i were the president i would go to the party and inform my visitors about the situation. maybe ask them for help or any donations that they could donate to the victims. possibly, even donate the gifts we have to the victims. why not if they’re willing right? i’ll ask someone to take care of my visitors so i could go in a room and see what’s going on and see what i can do.

logically thinking if i go there, i would possibly be drowned or MAGIGING PABIGAT to the citizens (thinking if i am at the age of the president), they would treat me more important than the victims because i am the president and i need to be safe. so i would rather stay in the palace and see and do what i can do to help out.

but all in all, i’ll do this IF and THAT’S IF i was informed.

my point is, put your feet on the president shoes and stop complaining. if you think you can do better than the president, then RUN FOR THE NEXT ELECTION, shut up and HELP THIS COUNTRY. you’re not helping when you’re just keep on complaining and not doing anything.

another is that, take a look at the US. they protect their president. they have more than 5 guards to ensure the safety of the president. and you guys want to feed OUR PRESIDENT to death?

if it’s going to be like this, then no one would want to be a president anymore. LOL. it would be the end of your life, well unless you’re up for a suicide.

    i was wrong

  7. December 20, 2011 at 2:01 am

WOW! you guys are such a hater? instead of hating President NOY NOY Aquino why don’t you also give help to the Cagayan De Oro tragedy? People just don’t learn! You guys don’t really know what the president is doing…If you do, then you should know what problems he’s dealing with. Then if you don’t? Shut you mouth and stop being a hater! You people don’t appreciate what the president did right instead you guys are focusing on what he did wrong.. GNYAN DIN NAMAN KAYO SA MGA PRESIDENTENG NAMUNO SA PILIPINAS. AKALA NIYO KASE GNUN GNUN LNG ANG PAMAMAHALA SA PILIPINAS LALO NA KUNG ANG MAMAMAYAN SA PILIPINAS EH NDI NKIKIISA! and don’t blame him for everything because he can’t run the Government just by himself.. You guys don’t know how the system of the government works so don’t sit there and judge The president.. Do something Good instead of being a hater and sa ginagwa nyu ndi kayu nakakatulong sa pagunlad ng pilipinas instead na suportahan ang MGA namumuno sa pamahalaan! JUDGE JUDGE JUDGE! EH BKIT NDI KAYA KAYU ANG MAMUNO SA MILYONG MILYONG TAO! AND DON’T EXPECT TOO MUCH!

mga kapatid, bago tayo humusga, here’s another side of the story.

imbes na magblog kayo at mag-kutsa, mag-donate na lang kayo please? oh and btw, nag-donate na ba kayo? 🙂

  9. December 20, 2011 at 9:50 am

bago kayo mang-husga, paki-tignan din muna ito.

instead of hurling and pointing fingers, galaw galaw muna tayo ha? wag daliri sa pag-type para sa ating blog ang unahin, mag-donate na lang tayo. oh and btw, did you find time to even help? kaya di tayo umuunlad eh, paunahan sa pagbintang kaagad. and on a personal note, ang pa-plastik niyo. hindi kayo puma-party? santo kayo? wow. we are thinking backwards, people! stop hating!

  10. December 20, 2011 at 9:51 am

I was going to say.. let’s give PNOY the benefit of the doubt. But on the other hand, I was already selling that speech and giving him that since day one! – I think there’s nothing wrong with PSG having that party, and PNOY attending that party. But In the order of priorities, a President should also see to it that the disaster in Mindanao comes first before anything else.

Ill-advised was an understatement and that crappy interview at Kris’ show saying that “PNOY’s visit to Mindanao will only interfere with the relief operations.. etc. etc.”

We don’t want PNOY there in Mindanao in fact, but we expect him to be always on top of the situation or at least show that he is. The victims needs his assurance more than ever at the very start of the disaster and not a few days after, as a scheduled visit – ano to ocular survey?

He should’ve issued a statement or something to tell the public the government’s plan about this disaster. We don’t want to hear the plans of his advisers and department heads – we want to hear his plans and commitments!

We want a hands-on President! Unless Pnoy changes his paradigms on how to do his business as a nation’s President – he will always receive negative public reactions.

Well, i guess the bad publicity circulated during his campaign period was right after all – “remember the you tube video about him sleeping all the time..” 🙂

Again, there’s nothing wrong with that party – but as President, he should’ve acted like one and prioritized things. He’s a public servant (servant leader) not a boss (company president).

I have read about this but refused to write about it. Anyway, looking at things, I believe naman that the president’s physical presence would not really help coz it would just use up logistics in the area na dapat itulong na lang.

however, what i didn’t like was Kris Aquino’s reaction na something about giving them a break. inappropriate at this time when many people are mourning the loss of their loved ones. her mother, though she was president, was only one person. here hundreds died and she had the nerve to say that.

in this case, parang wala akong masabi about Pnoy, maybe he should have acted with more appropriately lang. but sana, si kris ay tumahimik na lang.
