The Ailing Railway System
The Aquino government is aiming to modernize the transportation system in the Philippines. Yeah right. We are convinced. Convinced that almost everyday, the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) are plagued by glitches, causing enough delays and inconveniences to the public. If not power failure, the signal system or the door mechanism are faulty. Despite that the trains undergoes regular maintenance work, such trouble still happened—also regularly. Worst, the managements of LRT and MRT are now pushing for fare increase to allegedly produce funds for the improvement of their system. ONLY in the Philippines.

Giving Manny Pacquiao A Special Treatment Way Too Much?
The Philippine Army is now contemplating in promoting Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao to Lieutenant Colonel from his current reservist rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Does he deserve it? In my own opinion, Big NO. I agree with most of the Filipinos and government officials’ opinion—Pacquiao gave our country another reason to be proud of after recently (boringly) beat Sugar Shane Mosley. However, this doesn’t mean he is (morally) rightful to received a military promotion when he didn’t even do anything to fight against enemies of the state or just even think of ways to end insurgency. What just Pacquiao did was fight against co-boxers and received millions of dollars after.…

Leaders of the Catholic Church Should Make Reflections Too
It is understandable that the Catholic Church would strongly oppose Reproductive Health bill. The Church advocates the sanctity of life, therefore, any means to control creation are big NO NO to them. But the debate about this issue should not go down to the level where leaders of the Church seems to become desperate and resorts to personal attacks against individuals behind the proposal. I will never ever empathize with some parish priests who at the middle of their homily lashes out the supporters of pro-Reproductive Health bill. I heard that there’s a priest who dared devotees to walk out of the mass if they believe on the proposed legislation.…

A Day of Sorrow for Filipinos
No one has stopped China. Death sentence has been meted out today. Three Filipinos, Sally Ordinario-Villanueva, Ramon Credo and Elizabeth Batain received the most grave penalty after the Supreme People’s Court in China promulgated their punishment. Even the Philippine government failed to save them. It was President Benigno Aquino III himself admitted that they can’t question the final decision. What the administration did was just appeal to China leaders, up to the last minute. Hopes for a miracle, prayers and tears overflowed. But the destiny of the three Filipinos has been written. They are set to die through lethal injection. And they did. At the height of our news coverage…
