A Lip Service

Philippine President Benigno Aquino III tasked the Department of Energy to soften the impact of recent oil price increases on the public.

The chief executive was bothered with continued hikes in the world prices of oil. Diesel retail prices had shoot up to P40.25 per liter. The Palace also reminded the oil companies not to take advantage of the situation because of the law of supply and demand.

Soften? Mr. President, what your people need is for you to stop the unnecessary oil price increases. It’s hurting the Filipinos you consider as your “BOSS.” Why not forced the big oil companies to open their books so we can see how they raked billions from consumers?

On the other hand, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) reminded government agencies that frontline services should have no noon breaks.

In a statement, CSC Chairman Francisco Duque III stressed that they have been receiving reports that many government agencies rendering frontline services stop operations during lunch break and make clients wait for an hour or more. The commission is now making the rounds of government agencies to check for violations of the said policy, which is prescribed under Republic Act No. 9485, or the Anti-Red Tape Act (ARTA) of 2007. The public can report ARTA violations to the CSC hotline 932-0111 or text CSC at 0917-TEXTCSC (8398272).

Why only remind them now? The law has been implemented years back and no one got reprimanded or punished with such negligence on government offices. Some government officials and employees take their noon breaks as early as 11 o’clock in the morning and go back before 2 o’clock in the afternoon! Is it being productive? Are the taxes we paid for their salary worth their service?

kaya lang wala namang ginawa kahit ang mga nagdaang mga presidente, di nila kasi nararamdaman ang paghihirap nating mamamayan!
you have a new template, nice…

noon breaks for services frontliner should be on a rellebo basis, pwede naman yun, tulad ng ginagawa ng mga bangko, tuloy tuloy serbisyo. hay naku! karamihan ng gov’t offices, pag umabot ka ng 12pm parang wala na silang nakikita at wala na ring naririnig, sabay patay ng ilaw lol

The oil deregualtion law is not helping. I am not impressed with PNoy’s performance. Maybe he still has a long way to go, kaso lang mas nakikita sya bilang papogi instead na man in action.
