It’s More Fun In The Philippines: Really?

The new slogan campaign of the Department of Tourism to promote Philippines as the best tourists attraction created a huge buzz around the world.

Its international slogan…

For domestic campaign, they have this another slogan too…

Did Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez and those who helped to conceived the idea, BBDO Guerrero | Proximity Philippines, really studied it well? Originally, such slogan was already used in Switzerland in 1951. So, we are a copycat?

Now that the Philippines is using it, does it have an impact thus encourage more foreigners to come in the country? Or the new slogan could have other connotations that might be misinterpreted by some people?

The big question now, is it really fun in the Philippines? Of course! We have too many beautiful and rare places that local and foreign tourists must visit. Filipinos are warm and friendly and you will never regret spending money on our best and humble services.

However, will it be helpful to the government’s "Fun" campaign if the following are controlled if not totally eradicated?

* Crimes such as kidnapping, summary killings, media killings
* Terrorist threats
* Illegal drugs trade
* Prostitution
* Corruption
* High fuel, food and services prices
* and others which destroyed RP’s image

    The campaign received a lot of reviews, and they’re pretty diverse if you ask me. Some are all go for it; some didn’t like it. If you’re going to ask me, I’d spread this around the right way. It’s a good chance for the country to step it up a notch on the tourism side.

    By the way, I used your image for my post on Tumblr. I placed a link to your main page and to this post there.

    This tagline represents the Philippines, now that it is approved, what we can do is justify and made people and foreigners find Philippines more fun ! 🙂
