Fare Hike Again?

Few weeks ago, most of the oil firms rollback their prices. But the groups of drivers and operators are too quiet to initiate fare rollback.

This week, fuel prices went up again and Efren de Luna, president of the Alliance of Concerned Transport Operators (ACTO) with other transport groups, are very alert on seeking a minimum jeepney fare in Metro Manila of P10 for the first four kilometers of every trip!

Luna insisted that their petition at the LTFRB [Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board] should be immediately approved after the diesel prices increased by P1.40.

ACTO’s petition was filed together with fellow transport groups including Pasang Masda, the Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (Fejodap), Alliance of Transport Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (Altodap), and party list 1-United Transport Koalisyon (1-Utak).

These drivers and operators may only thinking of their own profit. Are they giving more burden to the commuting public? Have their service already improved or keep on counting accidents involving jeepneys?

Oh, I am thinking of buying a horse, and of course with kerrits to complete my diversion to “natural means of transportation.”
