    Mr. Ube News: Not The @TXTFIRE Alert Service Provider That You’re Looking For

    Be careful on what you’re subscribing to. My line of work obliged me to be updated on what’s happening around Metro Manila, especially FIRE incidents. So when I learned about TXTFIRE Philippines, I immediately subscribed my mobile number for fire alerts. But in more than two years now, not once I received any fire alert. What I got were all news updates and quotes! It was delivered by Mr. Ube. WORST, I received mostly advertisements! And they send alerts even in an unholy hour! The time when you’re trying to sleep then your phone alerted you a text message, and when you read it, they are all quotes! I remember…

    @pldtHOME: A Customer’s Greatest Failure

    The Philippine Long Distance Company (PLDT) never failed to irritate its clients. If only I have other choice of DSL line in our area, I wouldn’t subscribe to them. First, they automatically create an advance billing, even if you haven’t use the service yet. So if there’s any adjustment for failed service like interruptions for several days, you must not forget to request again and again before they create new billing so that your refund will be deducted. Second, they’re fast in creating advance billing but slow in implementing refund or adjustments. Third, I requested to transfer my DSL and landline and they assured me to get it done at…

    Unwanted Ads on Mobile Numbers: An Intrusion Of Privacy

    Almost everyday, I am receiving text messages from unknown mobile numbers offering me to acquire a property like condominium units and to avail fast loans. Some would invite me to buy their products, gadgets and attend bodega sales, among others. Some of the messages were came from the numbers below: +639164081294 +639176648754 +639265939153 +639154236902 +639269031090 +639166890204 +639155159809 +639068420760 +639154125292 +639058393809 +639175223148 09354949030 09174771488 09153259471 09268769340 09269914307 09165460033 09178143987 09051144193 09326512618 09277067084 09262078095 I really wonder how did they get my number when in fact, only limited people knew my NEW Globe postpaid line. It was just so frustrating and irritating when you were busy doing something then you’ve heard an…

    Globe Telecommunications’ Failed Service

    You will be encouraged to their offered promo. If you’re an internet savvy, definitely you’re looking for a faster connection and getting some freebies are great bonuses! Note: I did not receive a FREE SM Gift Card as what stated on their promo. I applied online last August 28 but they had it installed only last September 9. But when you have already got your line installed then after few days, the DSL connection lost. You would try to call their customer service through their hotlines to seek some help. However, none of the hotline customer service agents could ease your inconveniences and would just tell you: “Sorry Ma’am we…

    Smart Communications’ Bad Service

    It happened not once but so many times. But recently was too much and I cannot let it go, especially when Smart Communications keep on ignoring my concerns. Some people would say, so what’s with losing less than P100? It is not much. But if this will happen everyday, of course, it is too much! I am referring to missing pre-paid load on my mobile number with Smart Communications. Some people would consider it as “load snatching.” And that’s not fair and very frustrating! After confirming that I got zero balance already, I immediately called Smart hotline number using a postpaid PLDT landline service. Unfortunately, I failed to be connected…

    Unreasonable Parking Fees In Intramuros, Manila

    It’s been a while since I last visited Intramuros in Manila. The place was very memorable to me since college days. It is like where my heart was left. But today was a surprised to me. The roadside in front of a fast food chain in Anda St. corner Muralla St. was no longer free parking. And unfortunately, maybe there are also areas in Intramuros that are not open to public parking. It was odd because why would the Intramuros management charge parking fees in front of a fast food chain like Jollibee?  We ate less than 30 minutes at Jollibee and we were charged P40 for the parking fee.…

    Media-Unfriendly Hospitals

    It is not to justify colleagues in media. Admittedly, some members of the press are lacking some discipline but it doesn’t mean all are the same. Prominent government officials and celebrities who are being hospitalized, are of course, newsworthy for media people. Reporters may tried to ignore it but since public figures are involve, they have no choice but to cover it. I started covering hospitals or I can call it as “hospital beat” when the former President Gloria Arroyo were confined at St. Luke’s Medical Center- Global in Taguig City. Then followed by the coverage at The Medical City because the impeached Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona was…

    Why I Stop Patronizing Cebuana Lhuillier

    Simply because they only think of business and profit. Based on my own experience, they do not recognize humane consideration. That’s as far as I am concern. Some people may have the same encounter as mine, some are not. I remember one of their advertisement which featured by singer-actress Sarah Geronimo against other money transfer firms, bragging that they are more caring and have excellence than others. Well, that’s advertising. What do you expect from promotional tools but stating only what are their good services but not the failure of their system? Sometimes, too strict regulations can pose dangers to others. What am I talking about? When my son was…

    Cebu Pacific’s Misleading Seat Sale

    A hoax? I got frustrated again with Cebu Pacific Air. The airline company is deceiving or confusing their potential customers or just favoring some clients? Why did I say so? Yesterday (February 3), I read on abs-cbnnews.com about the PISO seat sale offer of Cebu Pacific. The news said, quoting the airline’s vice president for marketing and distribution Candice Iyog, the carrier will sell seats to any domestic destination for only one peso starting February 4, for travel from June 1 to September 30. Destinations include Bacolod, Boracay, Busuanga (Coron), Butuan, Calbayog, Cagayan de Oro, Catarman, Cauayan (Isabela), Cebu, Clark, Cotabato, Davao, Dipolog, Dumaguete, General Santos, Iloilo, Kalibo, Legaspi, Laoag,…
