Why I Stop Patronizing Cebuana Lhuillier

Simply because they only think of business and profit. Based on my own experience, they do not recognize humane consideration. That’s as far as I am concern. Some people may have the same encounter as mine, some are not. I remember one of their advertisement which featured by singer-actress Sarah Geronimo against other money transfer firms, bragging that they are more caring and have excellence than others. Well, that’s advertising. What do you expect from promotional tools but stating only what are their good services but not the failure of their system? Sometimes, too strict regulations can pose dangers to others. What am I talking about? When my son was…

    I Am A Kidnapper?!

It was a slow Saturday afternoon. I’m doing my regular rounds at work when our immediate supervisor called up and asked me to assist an apparently lost 3-year old girl. The girl was accompanied by two men, who introduced themselves as concerned citizens, on our radio station. They claimed that the girl was abandoned in a food store in Quezon City and because they allegedly want to secure the child from harm, they decided to bring the child in our network office. Our first intention was to report the lost child in the police station (Quezon City Police Station 10 –Kamuning) nearby. But unfortunately, NO ONE would like to attend…

    Vatican Tweets Pope’s Death?

“The Holy Father unexpectedly passed away this afternoon. We announce this with grief and consternation.” The Vatican  immediately denied the reported twitter message announcing the death of Pope Benedict XVI. Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi dismissed the message as “baseless” and “unworthy of attention". The fake tweet was in Italian and said to be tweeted by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, secretary of state and the number 2 at the Vatican at around 7:00pm. It was followed by similar tweets in Spanish, English and French. In April, the Pope will turn 85.

Texting While Driving = Accident + Death

One rush morning and on my way to work, I decided to take a FX taxi service. Good thing that there is no heavy traffic that time. But some drivers apparently do not understand or keep on disregarding how risky they are doing—TEXTING WHILE DRIVING. We are on a highway, yet, he’s busy texting and answering calls every now and then. They haven’t learned their lessons. According to independent studies, almost 16,000 cellphone-related accidents were recorded worldwide in 2010. Also, Philippines Global Road Safety Partnership and the Philippine National Police (PNP) noted that accidents caused by the use of mobile phones rose 601 percent to 491 in 2009 from 70…

    Business Interests Over Consumers’ Protection

Soon, the price of  every 11-kilogram tank of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the market will reach P1,000 mark. Since the start of the year, LPG prices increased monthly by P100 to P150 per tank. And with the coming weeks, series of oil price hike are also expected. Big oil companies and independent manufacturers pointed it to the movement of international market price of LPG. It has always been their excuse. Even if they are currently selling old stocks, they still implemented price hike. Unfortunately, the government cannot do anything to stop the increase which makes ordinary Filipinos bleed. Even Congress is apparently inutile in saving consumers from profit raking…
